Tim Sherwood believes there is a player that resembles legendary footballer Eric Cantona, and that player was recently at Wolves.
There was a mass exodus at Wolves during the summer, with many key players from last season’s squad leaving the club.
Matheus Cunha was perhaps one of the biggest of the departures, with the Brazilian moving to Manchester United.
The forward was exceptional at Molineux and was a large part of the reason Wolves are still a Premier League club.
Cunha admitted he loved his time at the Old Gold; however, his words did not land well with supporters.
Now, he has received perhaps some of the biggest praise of his career since leaving the club.
Matheus Cunha’s goals and assists for Wolves
Tim Sherwood compares Matheus Cunha to Eric Cantona
Tim Sherwood has not minced his words when praising former Wolves man Matheus Cunha and comparing him to an all-time footballing legend.
The former Wolves forward joined Manchester United to form a new attacking trio alongside Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko, and the former Tottenham manager thinks Cunha can be the main man for the Red Devils.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Sherwood said, “I think Cunha will be the superstar; he will be the Eric Cantona of Manchester United.
“When he gets better players around him, if the manager gets the opportunity to continue the building process in January and next summer, I think Cunha, longevity, is the icing on the cake. He has that sprinkle of stardust.”
Unfortunately for the Old Gold, plenty of former players are having success this season.
Carlos Forbs is having an excellent season, and recently the winger made his Portugal debut.
The Portuguese forward was a player Wolves certainly could have kept based on the current moment in his career.
However, keeping hold of Matheus Cunha was always going to be a struggle, as the Brazilian wanted to take the next step up.

Matheus Cunha not having same level of output at Manchester United as at Wolves
So far this season, Matheus Cunha has not hit the same heights in terms of goals and assists at Old Trafford as he did for Wolves.
The Brazilian has just one goal in 11 appearances so far this season, but as Wanderers supporters know, he offers much more than just goal contributions.
Additionally, Cunha started slow in terms of output at Wolves as well.
If Cunha can reach the level and status that Sherwood proclaims he can, he could go down as one of the best talents to play for Wolves.
Now, the Wanderers will be hoping that another one of their stars can step up and fill the void left by Cunha.
Jorgen Strand Larsen could be that man after what he did recently for Norway.
