‘They come and talk to me’: Hobbs shares what the Wolves stars are telling him about Gary O’Neil

Matt Hobbs has told that the Wolves players are extremely excited about where things are going at the moment under Gary O’Neil.

A feel-good factor has returned at Molineux following the huge 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Just days before, Wanderers were embarrassingly dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Ipswich Town.

Heading into the game with City, many fans were expecting a shellacking from the champions.

But O’Neil executed a perfect game plan, with Wolves running out 2-1 winners.

It is a result that will hopefully now put wind in the sails.

O’Neil has spoken well so far, and you can see he’s got some good ideas.

He’s certainly made an impression on the players, and sporting director Hobbs has now relayed what they have been telling him…

The team has been unlucky against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.

They finally got a big scalp, and it should do wonders for morale and confidence.

And Hobbs says the feeling is really, really good right now.

He said on The Monday Night Club: “The players have bought into it, I have a great relationship with a lot of the players and they come and talk to me and are so excited about where we are going.

“I think now the fans hopefully will continue to turn and be open minded with what Gary is doing and the direction he’s taking us.”

Wolves will look to make it back-to-back wins on Sunday with Aston Villa next up.

Really encouraging comments from Hobbs

It is very positive to hear Hobbs say this.

Max Kilman has also stated that the training has been ‘phenomenal’ under O’Neil.

It does sound as though things are very healthy behind the scenes, and that everyone is together.

There are going to be bumps in the road this season.

But O’Neil has shown in these opening weeks that he deserves time to get things in place.

His arrival happened very quickly after the departure of Julen Lopetegui. With time, he could potentially get Wolves where they need to be.
