Wolves have reportedly sacked Gary O’Neil after the defeat to Ipswich Town.
Despite being publicly backed by Jeff Shi leading up to the game against Ipswich, the club have now taken the decision that many felt should been made weeks ago.
Wolves lost 2-1 to the Tractor Boys, with awful defending again costing the team.
Emotions spilled over once again after the game had finished, with Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri both getting involved in scuffles. Ait-Nouri got a second yellow card, and Cunha is now facing a potential ban.
Given O’Neil was backed earlier this week and it seemed as though he would make it to January, it may well be that these scenes suggested to the board that O’Neil had lost the dressing room.
Gary O’Neil set to be sacked by Wolves after last straw Ipswich defeat

Wolves had been reluctant to sack O’Neil going into the Ipswich game, but clearly the feeling changed after the result.
It’s been reported this morning by the Telegraph that Wolves will sack O’Neil.
Official confirmation has not yet arrived from the club.
But Wolves appear to have made their decision, and the fact they’ve done it now suggests that a replacement has been found.
Word on that will no doubt come very soon.
Wolves fans concerned Gary O’Neil has been sacked ‘too late’
On social media, many fans have been reacting to the news that O’Neil is set to be sacked by Wolves.
As expected, the reaction is hugely positive, as many just didn’t feel he was the man for the job.
However, a lot of people fear that this decision has simply come too late and that Wolves still could end up being relegated.
A huge development, but it could be too late for Wolves
It is the news that many Wolves fans thought would never come, and it’s a decision that may well have come too late.
O’Neil has failed at Wolves but we all know he isn’t the only reason for the club’s decline.
Fosun have a heck of a lot to answer for, with their running of the club ultimately why Wolves are in this current mess.
