Vitor Pereira’s time ended on a sour note at Wolves this campaign despite the previous season being a success.
It was the ending nobody wanted, but it was time for the 57-year-old to depart, as he had simply run out of ideas with the club at the bottom of the Premier League.
Rob Edwards has now taken over, and Wolves will be looking to claw their way out of the relegation zone before the campaign ends.
Club captain Toti Gomes believes Edwards is ‘perfect’ for the Old Gold, and he is excited about the times ahead.
However, he also shared what he told Vitor Pereira following his dismissal from the club at the start of November.

What Toti Gomes told Vitor Pereira after he left Wolves
Toti Gomes will be grateful to Vitor Pereira, as he is the man who gave him the honour of being the captain of Wolves.
While he trusted him to lead out the pack, Toti’s performances this season forced the head coach to play him less than he probably would have liked.
The constant search for an answer to Wolves’ struggles led to Pereira changing his starting XI frequently, and Toti was often on the negative side of those changes.
Over 11 Premier League games, he has played just 53% of minutes, but that did not prevent him from giving the former head coach a goodbye message.

Toti Gomes said (via Wolves’ official website), “It’s always sad when a gaffer moves on. He [Pereira] came in a bad moment in the last season, and he did a great job. We started very well with him, and we finished the season well with the way we wanted to finish.
“But after they left, I spoke with all of them [Vitor and his staff], and I wish them all the best. I respect each one of them and will always be grateful for what they did for us.
“We had a very bad moment at the end, but we cannot forget that we had some very good moments with them too, and we need to be grateful for those.”
While Toti Gomes is still fond of those good times, after how things ended, it may be difficult to overlook just how bad Wolves have been.
Fans will always appreciate Vitor Pereira for his opening months at Wolves
While things went bad quite quickly, fans will appreciate the job that Pereira did during the 2024/2025 season when he safely guided Wolves away from relegation.
It was a job that at the time looked insurmountable, but the six-game winning run throughout March and April changed the fortunes of the club and kept them in the Premier League.
Fans will be hoping that Rob Edwards can deliver the same impact, but the reality is the job is a lot tougher this time around.
The promoted sides are much stronger, and the gap to safety is already at eight points before they play Crystal Palace.
Let’s hope lightning strikes twice for Wolves.
