The number of coaching staff Rob Edwards expects to now join Wolves after Danny Alcock’s arrival

Just before kick-off on Sunday, Wolves announced that Rob Edwards had added a new member to his coaching staff, Danny Alcock.

The Old Gold’s head coach is still looking to add to his backroom team as he looks to change Wolves’ fortunes.

There have been signs of improvement, and the performance against Aston Villa certainly gave Edwards positives to take away.

And displays like that all start on the training ground, which makes the appointments of staff all the more important.

And after Alcock’s arrival, more additions are still expected to follow.

Danny Alcock has joined Wolves as a first-team goalkeeping coach, and just as Paul Trollope and Harry Watling have, the new arrival has previously worked with Rob Edwards.

Alcock had most recently worked at Al Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League and, before that, had worked at Leicester City.

His connection with Rob Edwards comes as both had worked at the FA during the same period.

Now, according to the Express and Star, the Wanderers are not finished adding names to Edwards’ staff, with one more set to join.

The report says that the “Wolves boss is also expected to soon add another first-team coach to his ranks,” showing Edwards’ team is still continuing to shape up as the fight for survival ramps up.

The move will no doubt be aimed at strengthening the Wanderers’ chief’s long-term vision for the club.

Jeff Shi and Rob Edwards hatch a plan to get Wolves back on track

“I spoke about it with Jeff. We have a job on our hands this season, but I do want to be here long-term. To do that I need results. We have to be realistic, but my focus is on doing a good job and making sure we’re a PL club next season, but there is some realism too.”

More additions vital for stability

If Rob Edwards does not feel like he has enough coaching staff, then the addition of another coach is certainly welcome.

The arrival of new members for his backroom staff will provide the head coach with a stable platform for his Wolves project.

Whether the Old Gold can survive relegation looks increasingly slim with each passing week, but the display against Aston Villa could give some hope.

Edwards has already clearly improved Wolves defensively, and fans will be hoping he can continue to show improvements over the coming weeks.

More coaching staff will certainly not hurt those ambitions.
