Matheus Cunha will be back at Molineux tonight with Manchester United, and one statistic about the Brazilian should encourage Wolves.
Rob Edwards will again try to get his first win since coming to the club, and Wolves’ first of the campaign.
Wolves sit on just two points from 14 games, and still haven’t won in the top flight this season.
Wolves fared well vs Man United in the last meeting at Molineux on Boxing Day 2024
Are you nervous about Matheus Cunha making a similar impact against Wolves for United? 🤔
Concerningly, Wolves actually have four fewer points than Derby County after 14 games in the 2007/08 season, which was when they posted a record low points tally.
It doesn’t get any easier for Wolves, with United up next.
Ruben Amorim’s side can be erratic. But they’ll see this game as a big opportunity for three points, which would take them up to sixth.
One of the big narratives tonight will be the return of Cunha to Molineux – and one statistic about the former Wolves man makes for encouraging reading.
Matheus Cunha has been far less clinical for Man United this season

Cunha left Wolves right at the start of the summer 2025 transfer window.
His exit was practically nailed on, after he had negotiated a released clause worth £62.5 million as part of the new contract he signed on February 1.
United came calling, and his departure was swift.
But so far, it has not been a fruitful move for Cunha, who has scored just one goal for the Red Devils across all competitions in 12 appearances.
As he prepares to return to Molineux tonight, Wolves may be buoyed to learn that their former talisman has been much less clinical than he was last term.
In a feature piece run by the Independent, they reported that Cunha scored with 14% of his shots last term.
In 2025/26 so far, that is down to just 4.5%. He also has a lower volume of shots (3.81 last season, now 2.90).
He has taken 22 shots, 10 of which have hit the target with just one finding the net, against Brighton. Of those with more shots, only Evanilson and Dominik Szoboszlai have as few goals.

Cunha is still a real threat
While news of Cunha not being as clinical as he was last season will be welcomed by Wolves ahead of tonight’s game, he is still a player the team must be wary of.
Ultimately, Wolves fans know better than anyone just what Cunha is capable of. We saw it time and time again how he could just produce magic out of nothing.
What kind of reception should Matheus Cunha get on Monday night?🤔
It hasn’t quite happened for him yet in the red of Manchester United, but one suspects he’ll be especially keen to turn it on tonight against his former club.
He will likely be booed, and that could actually put a bit more wind in his sails.
Wolves have to make sure he is nullified. Yerson Mosquera feels like a good option to be tight on Cunha, and not give him an inch.
