The five-word message of defiance Julen Lopetegui signed off first press conference with

Julen Lopetegui has spoken to the media today, after officially starting work as Wolves’ new head coach.

The 56-year-old appeared before reporters to introduce himself and answer some questions.

Lopetegui was confirmed last weekend, after the club made a breakthrough in their pursuit of him.

That pursuit had seemingly ended last month, with Lopetegui having been dealing with some personal problems.

But Wolves eventually got their man after missing out on Mick Beale, with Lopetegui himself supposedly instigating the talks.

The club had left the door slightly open, and showed big respect for Lopetegui’s difficult situation.

The Spaniard was supposedly left impressed by how much the club wanted him, and agreed to take the role.

In his press conference today, Lopetegui said that the situation with his father has improved and so the timing was now right to take the job.

Lopetegui’s appointment has gone down very well with supporters, who believe his pedigree gives the team a great chance of being OK this season.

It’s been an awful start, and there is a lot of work to be done. But many fans have faith in Lopetegui to turn things around.

Certainly so far, he has come across very impressively.

Wolves have put out footage of him on his first day at Compton Park, and he clearly has an aura about him. And it was the same story when he appeared at Molineux on Saturday.

He seems very defiant, and at the end of his press conference today, he signed off with a five-word message of inspiration.

He said (via Liam Keen): “Out of darkness, cometh light.”

That is the motto of the city council, which Wolves’ traditional gold and black colours allude to.

Julen Lopetegui is ready to get to work at Wolves, and final message struck the perfect tone

Fans will love Lopetegui’s parting words today.

The situation is certainly dark at the moment. Wolves have won just two of their first 15 Premier League games, and scored just eight goals scored.

There is a lot of work to be done, and it could take some time before positive results start to come.

But Lopetegui has the credentials.

He has the experience, and has managed at the highest level. There is every chance he can bring the light he talks about.
