Gary O’Neil is attracting significant plaudits for the job he is doing at Wolves and now it has been claimed that one Premier League club would ‘like’ him to succeed their current manager.
Wolves were completely written off at the start of the season as they were ravaged by FFP issues, sold their finest assets and saw Julen Lopetegui walk out of the job just three days before the Premier League kicked off.
Initially, eyebrows were raised when they placed their faith in Gary O’Neil, as despite doing an excellent job at Bournemouth, the 40-year-old was still inexperienced in management.
The Molineux side were expected to battle against relegation upon his arrival, but he’s completely blown those expectations out of the water.
O’Neil has masterminded an incredible success story at Wolves and is surely in contention for Manager of the Season after guiding his side to an FA Cup quarter-final and leading them into European contention.
In the space of six months, this turnaround in fortunes is truly remarkable and Tim Sherwood has even said no one else could have got the Old Gold to where they are currently, and that is a testament to the job he’s done.
The only negative to overperforming expectations is the interest he’s beginning to receive from elsewhere.

West Ham ‘like’ the look of Gary O’Neil to succeed David Moyes
After doing a tremendous job, it’s natural that other clubs will stand up and take notice.
According to journalist Dean Jones, O’Neil is a likely contender to succeed David Moyes if he leaves West Ham.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “Now that Wolves are getting towards the stage where they are safe, I guess the fear isn’t over whether Gary O’Neil is good enough to be their manager. The fear might begin to be whether they are going to be able to keep hold of O’Neil now.
“At the moment, we’re getting towards the stage where West Ham are going to be looking for a new manager. While Gary O’Neil isn’t going to be the top target for them, I have heard that he is somebody they like.”
Get the contract out, Wolves
O’Neil is the best thing to happen to Wolves in many years. Despite how talented he is as a manager, everything is likeable about the man, including the connection he’s developed with supporters, the way he comes across in interviews and the several players he’s significantly improved at the club.
For sure, the former Bournemouth manager looks destined to go to the very top one day, but it’s highly unlikely he’d jump ship and leave for a club like West Ham.
Despite signing a three-year contract upon his arrival last year, surely he’s now worth renewed terms to secure his future at the club even longer.
What he’s achieved at Wolves is truly special and if manages to win the FA Cup or guide them into Europe, even more clubs will be flocking for his signature.
Supporters will just be holding onto the hope that he remains at Molineux for years to come.
