The brilliant gesture Joe Hodge made ahead of West Brom clash

Wolves defeated West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns in the FA Cup today and while there were no minutes for Joe Hodge, the midfielder was revealed to have made a fantastic gesture ahead of the game.

Wanderers are into the fifth round after beating Albion 2-0, with Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha scoring a goal in each half.

The game was suspended for over half an hour in the second half due to crowd trouble, but thankfully the match was eventually able to resume and Wolves saw out the game.

It was not the best Wolves performance this season, but the quality told in the end and Wanderers were solid at the back throughout.

It was brilliant to see Wolves get the win over their bitter rivals, and Gary O’Neil‘s side were deserved winners on the day.

Tommy Doyle and Mario Lemina were both terrific in midfield, and they were both so effective that the manager was reluctant to make changes there in the second-half.

So Joe Hodge was left on the bench, but the Irish youngster needs a mention today for something he did leading up to this game, that was revealed on X by journalist Liam Keen.

He said: “Brilliant gesture from Joe Hodge, who has given some tickets for today’s game to club staff, who are also Wolves fans, who couldn’t get a ticket today.

“He could have given his tickets to family but gave them to fans instead.”

It is unclear exactly how many tickets he gave to staff members, but it is brilliant from Hodge given how big today’s game was and how hard it would have otherwise been for people to get tickets.

Well done Joe Hodge

It is always great to hear when Wolves players do nice things for fans, and these things are worthy of acknowledgment.

Tickets for West Brom vs West Brom – the first Black Country derby in front of fans for 12 years – at the Hawthorns in the fourth round of the FA Cup would have been very hard to obtain for a reasonable price, but Hodge – who may yet leave Wolves on loan this month – has gifted them tickets.

It is a truly fantastic gesture from Hodge, who clearly just gets how much these things mean to those who support him.

Hopefully, those who went to the game had the very best experience – it was certainly the right result for them.
