The 67-year record Wolves can equal against Leicester City as Vitor Pereira eyes another milestone

Wolves supporters won’t want this season to end as Vitor Pereira’s men have pieced together a sensational run of form.

Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United was their fifth victory on the bounce as Vitor Pereira made more history at Wolves.

The Old Gold are now up to 15th position in the table, something no one could have forecasted when he replaced Gary O’Neil in December.

Pereira has already predicted a bright future for Wolves, believing they can achieve ‘big things’ under his guidance, while a strong end to the campaign could strengthen their position in the transfer window.

Ahead of Wolves clash against Leicester City on Saturday, the chance to equal a long-serving record will also fuel them even more.

Wolves can complete a league double over Leicester City for the first time in 67 years

The build-up to this match has been dominated by Jamie Vardy announcing his departure from Leicester at the end of the campaign.

Vardy has taunted them after scoring in the past, and the 38-year-old will want to haunt his opponents once more this weekend.

Fortunately for the hosts, the last time these two sides met, Wolves beat Leicester 3-0 in Pereira’s first game in charge.

Since then, the Wanderers have marched up the Premier League table while City have been rooted in the bottom three, seeing their relegation confirmed with a defeat to Liverpool.

Wolves will therefore be expected to secure victory over a side who are winless in 12, and in doing so, equal a 67-year record.

As per BBC Sport, Wolves are looking to complete their first league double over Leicester since the 1957-58 campaign.

That is a remarkable statistic, all things considered, and the chance to equal history will add fuel to their motivation of making it six wins on the bounce.

Wolves head-to-head record vs Leicester City

The current form guide heavily favours a home win, but the recent history of the fixture is weighted in the direction of Leicester.

Wolves are winless in seven of their last nine games against the Foxes, losing four of those fixtures, though they do boast a better overall record than their opponents with 45 wins to their 42.

There’s a huge chance that Pereira’s side secure back-to-back victories over the former Premier League champions as he aims to write his name in the history books.
