The £16m Wolves player who ‘everyone at Compton appreciates’

Wolves look set to finish the season strongly after a dismal first two-thirds of the campaign – and one player is currently making a big difference to the team.

After beating Ipswich Town 2-1 at the weekend, Wolves now find themselves 12 points clear.

The team is as good as safe, and Vitor Pereira deserves all the praises he’s currently getting.

The manager has turned things around, and proven to be a very shrewd appointment.

One of the main reasons Pereira has succeeded so far is because of the business he oversaw in the last transfer window.

Emmanuel Agbadou has been a terrific signing, and has bolstered the backline sigificantly.

Wolves also signed Marshall Munetsi, a player Dave Edwards really likes the look of so far.

Munetsi joined Wolves from Reims for around £16 million (via Danyal Khan), just like Agbadou.

So far, the Zimbabwe international has made nine appearances for Wolves, scoring one goal.

Munetsi has had a lot of chances, and has come in for criticism for not being very clinical. As per Stat Muse, he has a conversion rate of just 7.1% so far.

But Pereira has hailed Munetsi for the work he does in supporting Jorgen Strand Larsen, insisting he occupies markers and talking up his physical presence.

Edwards – who still has very close ties with the club – commented on Munetsi in his latest E&S column, and believes the player has so much to offer, and is appreciated by all at Compton.

He said: “Marshall Munetsi also deserves credit. He’s had his critics but he makes players around him better.

“He occupies defenders and makes space for others. Pereira singled him out for praise after the game and rightly so.

“He makes good runs and takes players with him and his work rate is fantastic. I just hope he stays in the team and picks up some more goals, but everyone at Compton appreciates what he brings to Wolves.”

Munetsi must be a joy to play with

Premier League football is extremely intense.

The pace of the English game is like no other, and players who are physically strong tend to thrive in the top-flight.

You can clearly see that Munetsi has got a great engine, and his pressing and general work rate must make him a joy for the likes of Andre, Joao Gomes and Jorgen Strand Larsen to play with.

Indeed, Strand Larsen hailed Munetsi’s energy after the win over Ipswich.

He’s a very selfless team player and it’s very clear Pereira loves what he brings to the table, even if he isn’t so clinical at the moment.

It would be great to see him keep his place in the starting XI moving forward.

With Wolves looking more of a team, there is little doubt Munetsi has contributions to the positive results of late
