‘Talented’: Gary O’Neil admits 25-year-old player Wolves sold is very good

Manchester City visit Molineux on Saturday which could mark the return of Matheus Nunes.

The Portuguese midfielder departed Wolves in the summer after kicking up a fuss.

Wolves rejected the initial bid, before Matheus Nunes went on strike and refused to train.

Effectively this forced Wolves’ hand but will have left a bad taste in the mouth of those at Molineux.

However when quizzed on the talent of the 25-year-old, Gary O’Neil was full of praise admitting Nunes is quite good.

Gary O’Neil praises Matheus Nunes

Speaking to the media before the Man City game via Football Daily, O’Neil explained his view on Nunes.

‘Yeah he’s a talented player isn’t he, I think when you move for that amount of money to the best side in the world it shows what quality you have.”

O’Neil then continued to admit he knew the quality before he was sold.

“We knew that already from the couple of weeks that I spent with him, he’s an incredibly talented boy.”

Will Wolves face their former star?

Wolves are facing City at the right time, with Rodri now out suspended which severely weakens the midfield.

This absence is on-top of Kevin de Bruyne who is out injured for the game on Saturday.

Therefore, Wolves likely will find themselves facing a midfield consisting of City’s two newest recruits in Mateo Kovacic and the returning Nunes.

A really good chance for Wolves to take advantage of a midfield which is relatively unproven together and snatch some points from City and ruin their perfect start.
