Sue Smith heralds an ‘absolutely superb’ Wolves man as key reason for win

Wolves managed to escape Goodison Park with all three points on Saturday despite their defence facing an onslaught.

Everton will be feeling incredibly hard-done-by as they came up against in incredible Jose Sa.

Rolling back the years to when he first arrived at Molineux, Sa was impenetrable against the Toffees.

Earning rightfully the man of the match award, Sa will be getting thanked by his peers and coaches all week for winning Wolves the three points.

A huge performance by Wolves which was recognised by Sky Sports pundit Sue Smith during her coverage of the game.

Smith praises the Portuguese keeper

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, Smith was in awe as Sa consistently pulled saves out of the bag.

Without a doubt he was the driving force behind Wolves winning the game, a theory Smith agreed with.

“It’s absolutely superb from him and he’s kept Wolves in the game.”

She was absolutely right with her verdict as Sa put in a hall of fame worthy performance.

How good was Sa?

In short the answer is he was very good, but to go into just how good he was, we used SofaScore.

Sa made seven saves in the game which prevented a whopping 1.23 expected goals.

Besides his elite shot stopping, he was a constant option for Wolves in build up, boasting 31 completed passed with six being long balls.

He also won 100% of his duels in the game along with completing three clearances, he was a true immoveable object for Wolves.

If he plays like this every week, Wolves could see their fortunes turn around very quickly this season.

Huge positive for Gary O’Neil and his coaching staff to have this monster protecting their goal.
