Stuart Pearce says ‘incredible’ Wolves player is ‘the best professional you’ll ever work with’

Wolves beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the Premier League yesterday and during the game, Stuart Pearce made quite a big claim about Craig Dawson.

Wanderers won in dramatic fashion at Molineux, scoring two goals in injury-time to take all three points. Wolves looked to be heading to a second straight defeat, but Gary O’Neil made one substitution that would change the game for the hosts.

Brennan Johnson gave Spurs an early lead.

Wolves plugged away for the rest of the game and created a lot of chances, but lacked a cutting edge.

It wasn’t until right at the end that Wolves finally got their eye in.

Pablo Sarabia, sent on for the closing stages by O’Neil, popped up with an absolutely sensational goal. Mario Lemina then grabbed a winner right at the death, prompting scenes of bedlam at Molineux. TNT Sports pundit Joe Cole called the Spaniard ‘quality’ after the game.

It was one of the best results of the season – and during the game, Stuart Pearce made quite the claim about Wolves defender Craig Dawson…

During talkSPORT’s coverage of the game yesterday, Pearce spoke glowingly about Dawson.

The 33-year-old has been an absolute titan since he signed for Wolves back in January for just over £3 million.

Dawson is a solid performer at the back for Wolves. But he is also known for his professionalism. It was suggested earlier this year that he was known for this at West Bromwich Albion, and that it was ‘legendary’.

Pearce worked with Dawson at West Ham United and therefore knows full well what he is like.

During the first-half yesterday, Pearce said: “I’ve worked with him on a couple of occasions for a couple of teams. He is the best professional you’ll ever work with. He’s incredible.”

Dawson one of the best signings Wolves have made in years

It is really interesting to hear Pearce say this about Dawson.

He was immense once again yesterday, and it is remarkable to see how consistently solid he is for Wolves.

The £45,000-a-week rock may be coming to the end of his playing career, but his level just does not appear to be dropping at all.

It is that professionalism that is allowing him to perform at this level, and Wolves fans would love for him to keep thriving for as long as possible.
