‘Struggled’: Sky commentator delivers blunt verdict on Wolves player today

Wolves have lost their fourth Premier League game of the season 3-2 today against Crystal Palace.

Wanderers were at Selhurst Park hoping to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League after defeating Everton.

But the team just didn’t show enough quality in the final third today.

It was a game where both sides showed a lack of quality on the ball for the most part.

Palace had the better chances throughout, and took three of them through Odsonne Edouard (two) and Ebere Eze.

Hwang Hee-chan had equalised for Wolves to further his case to start against Liverpool after the international break.

And Matheus Cunha scored right at the very end, but it was too little too late for the visitors.

Today was a fairly tough afternoon for Fabio Silva, with Alan Smith delivering a pretty blunt verdict on the youngster

Strangely, Silva often operated as the second striker, with Cunha right up top at times.

Silva just really struggled to affect the game for the visitors.

He was substituted off with around 20 minutes to go, and as he left the action, Smith said on commentary: “Silva just couldn’t influence the game. Just couldn’t get into it.”

A tough outing for Silva who must show more

This was a poor showing from Silva, although he was definitely not the only Wolves player to really disappoint for Wolves today.

He may have scored right at the end, but Cunha was also not good at all. And neither was Pablo Sarabia.

Silva deserved to start this game after his showing against Blackpool. But he will do very well to get the nod against Liverpool after the international break.

He just didn’t offer enough today for Wanderers which is really disappointing.

That said, the £80,000-a-week striker playing on Cunha’s shoulder was something that just didn’t work, and so maybe O’Neil needs to take a bit of the blame.
