Wolves interim manager Steve Davis has said defender Toti Gomes could miss tonight’s game with Crystal Palace.
The 23-year-old started his second game in a row on Saturday against Nottingham Forest.
He has been deputising for the suspended Nathan Collins.
He put in an assured display against Chelsea recently, but had a rather mixed bag on Saturday against Forest.
With Collins having now served his ban, Toti’s starting prospects tonight were arguably fairly low.
But Davis gave an update yesterday and it would appear any appearance tonight for Toti is now very unlikely.
The star is undergoing a late fitness test. Davis said that he didn’t know specifically what the issue is, just that the medical team will make a late call on him.
He said (via Express & Star): “It’s fair to talk about Toti, I think he’s done well.
“He’s injured and is being assessed, so there’s a possibility he might make it, or he might not.
“But he’s been excellent. He can defend the outside spaces because he’s athletic and quick. He’s gone about his business really well.
“He got some great headers in towards the end of the Forest game, when we needed him. We need to be mindful that his performances were excellent.”
A shame for Toti Gomes, but Nathan Collins was surely replacing him anyway
Thankfully Collins is back available for selection for Wolves tonight.
It makes the injury to Toti slightly more manageable.
Hopefully it is nothing too serious for the Portuguese defender.
Wolves are not exactly inundated with centre-back options at the moment, and need their four players to stay fit through to the next transfer window.
