Steve Davis hails U18s star Dexter Lembikisa after fantastic performance against Tottenham

Wolves U18s manager hailed Dexter Lembikisa following an impressive outing against Tottenham Hotspur.

The youngsters put in a brilliant collective performance against Spurs in the FA Youth Cup last week, which resulted in a resounding 3-0 win.

Aaron Keto-Diyawa opened the scoring for Wolves, with Tyler Roberts bagging a brace.

Victory means Wolves now face Brighton in the quarter-final of the competition.

Davis spoke of his delight in his players after the game.

It was a dominant display, and several youngsters really made good impressions.

One of the game’s best players, though, was Lembikisa. The starlet showed fantastic energy and linked up really well with Harry Birtwistle down the right side.

Davis said of him (Wolves official): “He’s a top player. He’s showing in a very short space of time how good and how quickly he can improve and develop. He’s a great example to the other lads.

“He’s showed that he has started to listen and do the right things, living the right lifestyle and doing what you’re told to do in terms of when he goes down to the first-team and they tell him to do particular things, that’s what he does.

“I thought he was outstanding today, he caused them a lot of problems.”

Lembikisa is a player Wolves have big hopes about.

He penned his first professional contract a few months ago as a reward for his exciting development since first joining the club five years ago.

Scott Sellars said at the time that he had really kicked on in the last 15 months or so.

And Lembikisa actually made Bruno Lage’s first-team squad for the first time last month for the FA Cup clash with Sheffield United.

Lembikisa appears to be developing very nicely indeed within the youth ranks at Wolves.

His card has clearly already been marked after he appeared on Lage’s bench last month.

He just needs to continue working hard. If he does, he may well end up getting a chance just like Luke Cundle did on Sunday.

By many accounts, Lembikisa is someone with a tremendous work ethic.

Given his fantastic potential, he surely stands a great chance of eventually make his senior debut.
