Steve Davis hails Adama Traore following recent upturn at Wolves

Steve Davis has lavished praise on Adama Traore following his recent return to form for Wolves.

The Spaniard has now started each of the last three Premier League games since Bruno Lage was sacked.

The winger was struggling for opportunities under the Portuguese.

But Davis has used him at every turn so far, and the 26-year-old has been one of Wanderers’ best performers.

On Tuesday night, he scored his first Premier League goal of the season against Crystal Palace, nodding in Hugo Bueno’s excellent cross.

It was a rare goal for the star, who is now looking to add more to his game, as well as assists.

Davis has been speaking about Traore ahead of today’s game with Leicester City, and really piled on the praise for him. He also said that staff have had to manage him carefully following his return from injury.

He said (Wolves official): “I’m a huge fan of his anyway, what he brings to the group, what he brings to the team, the problems he gives to the opposition.

“He feels that love, that affection that we’ve given him, and he’s a big focal point for how we’re playing at the minute. He knows he’s important to the team, knows his role in the team, and he’s excelling because of that.”

“He’s coming back from an injury. We’d have liked to have used him more than we have done, but we’ve had to restrict his minutes to get him to a stage where he can play 90. Hopefully at the weekend he’ll be in a better position. We were cautious because we felt if we pushed him any longer, he would have broke down and we wouldn’t have him for three or four months.”

Traore is now into the final year of his contract at Molineux.

Many fans would love for him to extend his contract with the club. But for a while now there has been no indication that he will do such a thing.

The likelihood is that he will leave the club for free next summer.

Adama Traore has had an arm around the shoulder and is much improved for Wolves

You can really tell that Traore is playing with more confidence now.

Davis and the other coaches have clearly pulled him to one side and told him how much they rate him and what he brings to the table.

Bruno Lage sometimes praised Traore publicly.

But it never really felt like he truly appreciated Traore’s unique qualities. And it often fell Traore would be playing within himself when coming on as a substitute in games.

Thankfully, we are now seeing a very dangerous player grow in confidence. Hopefully, there will now be more goals and assists to come/
