Steve Bull’s favourite Wolves signing who has ‘all the attributes’

Wolves legend Steve Bull is particularly struck by one Wolves signing so far this season.

It’s difficult to judge summer business so early in the season, but with each passing game, it becomes clearer which Wolves signings are going to be weapons for Vitor Pereira.

Six new faces arrived at the club — not including Jorgen Strand Larsen — and they are all acclimatising to English football at different rates.

But Wolves’ all-time leading goalscorer has seen enough from one signing to know he’s got a bright future at Molineux.

Steve Bull already convinced by Ladislav Krejci

It has been a smooth transition from La Liga for Ladislav Krejci.

Wolves’ Player of the Month for September has looked at home almost instantly in Pereira’s side, and since he has been starting regularly at centre-back, there has been a noticeable improvement at the back.

Steve Bull has seen this as well, and already, he has high hopes for the Czech defender.

Writing for E&S, Bull singles out Krejci, saying: “One of the new signings who has particularly impressed me is Ladislav Krejci and I think he is going to be a very good player for our club.

“The Czech international has all the attributes and I really like his hunger. He’s always willing to chase the ball down and I believe his team-mates will feed off stuff like that.”

Agreed. When the rumours linking Krejci to Wolves emerged, he was profiled as a technical defender comfortable in possession. His ability to play in midfield excited fans, though it further pushed the narrative that Krejci’s main strengths weren’t necessarily out of possession.

But he has corrected that narrative. The 26-year-old gets stuck in to challenges and has been a difficult proposition for opposing attackers.

But that’s not all. Bull sees another area in which Krejci can excel, as he explains: “If you are looking for leaders in this Wolves team, then he can be one of them. Others can follow his example.”

Wolves’ most competitive position now

There’s nothing from Krejci’s first games at the club to argue against his inclusion in the starting XI week-in, week-out.

That means there are four centre-backs vying to start next to him. Toti Gomes is the captain of the side, but being a fellow left-footer might well work against him. Emmanuel Agbadou has been poor, but we know what he’s capable of.

You also have recent goalscorer Santiago Bueno, who has done brilliantly since Pereira dropped Agbadou. And then there’s Yerson Mosquera, who is back in contention after a year on the sidelines.

Of course, there’s plenty of games in a season, and rotation will be key, but who is going to start in the biggest games?

Another puzzle for Pereira to piece together.
