Wolves are already planning for life in the Championship, and Adam Armstrong could well be central to the club’s promotion push in the eyes of club legend Steve Bull.
Adam Armstrong joined Wanderers in the middle of the season, replacing Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The move was made with next season very much in mind – sadly, despite an upturn recently, the Old Gold are staring down the barrel of relegation.
Steve Bull has made it clear that the striker, alongside Tolu Arokodare, Armstrong has the tools to dominate the Championship – and the numbers strongly support that claim.
With Wolves set to drop, attention has shifted firmly towards how they will respond.
Steve Bull backs Armstrong and Arokodare as ‘formidable’ Championship force

Steve Bull is realistic about Wolves’ fate.
While there is still a mathematical chance of survival, it would have to be the greatest of great escapes for Wolves.
But Bull is buoyed by a blossoming partnership in the team.
He said in his latest E&S column: “He’ll (Armstrong) be with Wolves next season and I think he’ll be full of goals.
“However, he won’t want to be known as a Championship goalscorer, he’ll want that title in the Premier League, and I think he can achieve it with the right service.
“He’ll want some more goals this season and carry some momentum, and that snowball effect, into the next campaign.
“His striker partner Tolu Arokodare has taken time to get his feet under the table and adjust to the pace of the Premier League, but the Championship is totally different.
“Armstrong knows that league and how to battle in it, and as a pair they could be a formidable force in the Championship.”
The combination of Armstrong’s experience and Arokodare’s profile gives Wolves a clear attacking direction for next season, and hopefully both will deliver and help Wolves gain immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
Armstrong’s Championship record shows why he can lead promotion charge

Of course, Armstrong’s record in the Championship is already established.
He has scored 91 goals in 277 Championship games, a return that places him among proven scorers at that level.
As per Transfermarkt data, only 11 other players have ever scored more than Armstrong in the Championship.
Adam Armstrong Championship goals breakdown by club
Blackburn – 49
Southampton – 32
Barnsley – 6
West Brom – 3
Bolton – 1
Newcastle – 0
His output gives Wolves a clear focal point for their attack in a division where goals decide promotion places. And Armstrong’s familiarity with the league also removes any adaptation period and allows Wolves to build around a striker who has already delivered across multiple seasons.
And we’ve already seen glimpses of it, but Arokodare should really complement Armstrong’s profile.
Certainly, there are reasons for optimism with this duo leading the line next season and hopefully they will indeed be as ‘formidable’ as Bull predicts.
