Wolves are edging closer to saying goodbye to former captain Mario Lemina in the transfer window.
Vitor Pereira revealed that Lemina refused to play for Wolves when the Old Gold lost 3-0 to Newcastle United.
Since then, the midfielder has apologised for his actions however, it remains clear that Lemina wants to leave Molineux before the end of the month.
Wolves have identified Manu Silva as a replacement, with the club working hard to bring the messy transfer saga to a close.

Steve Bull comments on Mario Lemina transfer situation
Al-Shabab have approached Wolves to sign Lemina, with the 31-year-old also eyed by former loan club Galatasaray.
As the situation has quickly became ugly, Wolves were warned about Lemina’s actions, seeing the midfielder compared to Matheus Nunes.
While the Gabon international was a good servant to the club, his recent behaviour has changed the view of fans, with Wolves legend Steve Bull in agreement.
In his column for Express and Star, Bull branded the transfer situation as ‘silly’, taking aim at Lemina for how he’s managed the scenario.
“To be honest, it is just silly from his point of view. If you want to leave a club, you should roll up your sleeves, go out there and perform so that other clubs notice you,” Bull said.
“If that’s what he wants to do, let him, and find him somewhere else to play. He’s downed tools and he shouldn’t do that. Any player needs to fight for a place in the squad so it’s very naughty of him to refuse to play.”
The Wolves icon went on to send a clear message to Pereira, urging the boss to move on from Lemina’s petulant behaviour.
“Vitor Pereira now needs to focus on the players that are committed – the last thing he needs is a bad apple in the dressing room.
“It’s time to move him on and let the rest of the squad give their best for Pereira and the club.”
Has Lemina played his last game for Wolves?
While the consensus at Compton Park is that Lemina’s Old Gold career is over, there could be a bizarre glimmer of hope for the player.
Pereira revealed that Lemina apologised ahead of the clash against Chelsea.
Fixture | Result | Lemina’s involvement |
Leicester | 0-3 W | Not in squad |
Man Utd | 2-0 W | Not in squad |
Tottenham | 2-2 D | Not in squad |
Nottm Forest | 0-3 L | 31 minutes played |
Newcastle | 3-0 L | Not in squad |
Whether the Gabonese star has done enough to warrant a place in the squad to travel to Stamford Bridge remains to be seen; however, his regret was certainly a step in the right direction.
Lemina’s future still looks to be far from Wolves, with the 31-year-old rapidly falling from hero to zero with his distasteful actions.
