Steve Bull reveals what most Wolves fans are saying to him ahead of Sunderland

The Premier League is back and Steve Bull has previewed Wolves’ trip to Sunderland, revealing how fans are feeling about the season so far.

After two long weeks without club action, Wolves make the trip to the Stadium of Light, where they’ll be looking to get their first win of the campaign.

Vitor Pereira has had plenty of time to prepare for this all-important clash, and goes into the weekend with an almost full-strength Wolves squad.

Steve Bull has been chatting with supporters in the days leading up to the tie, and has noticed a common theme.

What Steve Bull keeps hearing from Wolves fans

After seven league outings without a win, the vibe around Molineux has been one of angst and trepidation, but recent performances have seen a marked improvement from the opening stages of the season.

Not enough to change the mind of many fans, it would seem. Writing his column for E&S, Wolves’ all-time leading goalscorer shared the verdict he’s heard the most.

He writes: “Most supporters are coming up to me saying that we’re going down.”

You can’t really fault fans for having this view. It hasn’t been pretty watching Wolves play this season.

But Bull, who knows all about what it takes to win at this club, urges a different perspective. He continues: “But Vitor Pereira saved us last year, and I urge them to keep the faith that he will do it this year.

“The last two performances have shown he is starting to turn it around, and the players are getting used to the manager and the Premier League. It will start to click.”

Bull’s optimism is refreshing, and it’s the right way of thinking, but if this game ends in another loss it will be difficult to prevent the majority from looking at worst-case scenario.

Bull not totally convinced by Sunderland

No one expected Sunderland to be in the top half at this stage of the season. The job Regis Le Bris has done there has been nothing short of exceptional.

That being said, Bull doesn’t want to give the opposition too much credit, suggesting that their hot run of form won’t last forever.

As he puts it: “I think Sunderland’s bubble will burst halfway through the season and I’m not sure they have the stamina to keep it going.”

Perhaps, Pereira’s side can be the ones to burst it this weekend. Wolves have a good track-record against Sunderland in the Premier League.

It’s fair to say this is the biggest game of the season so far.
