Steve Bull delivers Vitor Pereira verdict after Wolves announce new contract

Wolves legend Steve Bull remains upbeat about the club’s future, despite the Old Gold enduring a difficult start to the season.

The West Midlands outfit received a double boost this week, with both Vitor Pereira and Jorgen Strand Larsen agreeing to new deals at the club.

Despite this positive news, Wolves have struggled in the early stages of the season, sitting at the bottom of the Premier League and winless in their opening four matches.

Fans have seen glimpses of improvements, but the results have yet to follow.

However, Bull remains confident that Wolves can turn a corner in the coming weeks, especially with Pereira signing a new deal to provide stability at the club.

Steve Bull backs Vitor Pereira to improve Wolves’ results

While some Wolves fans have questioned the timing of handing Pereira a new deal, given the team’s poor start to the season, Bull has backed the decision and expressed his confidence in the manager’s ability to turn results around.

In his Express & Star column, he said: “We all know the job that he can do. Give him the tools and he will make us better.

“He now has a team that he has to build from fresh, and I’d back him to get the results we need. In another five or six games – hopefully with some wins under our belt – I think we’ll be bigger and stronger.”

Pereira showed his tactical adaptability last season during Wolves’ six-game winning streak and he is more than capable of repeating this run, especially as upcoming fixtures appear slightly easier on paper.

Keeping Strand Larsen at the club is another huge boost, as it ensures the club’s talisman can focus fully on regaining fitness and rediscovering his scoring touch, without being distracted by his future.

Pereira needs to raise Wolves’ performance levels

Pereira must find a way to get Wolves to produce a complete 90-minute performance, rather than playing well in short spells.

In the defeat to Everton, his side started slowly before improving in the second period, but the early damage made it difficult to snatch a point from the game.

Similarly, last weekend against Newcastle, the Old Gold produced a better first-half display, but their performance levels dropped after the interval.

Despite this, Chris Sutton believes Wolves will beat Daniel Farke’s Leeds side, even if Larsen is unable to start for the hosts.

Raising performance levels across the full game will be vital if Pereira wants his side to start climbing up the table.
