Steve Bull defends Wolves technical director Scott Sellars amid fierce recent critism

Molineux legend Steve Bull has come to the defence of Wolves’ technical director Scott Sellars.

Earlier this week, fans really turned against Sellars, with the perception being that he has overseen some poor decisions at the club in recent times.

There were also reports that Sellars has been taking an active role on matchdays for Wolves, communicating down to the bench.

Steve Davis said after the game against Leicester City that he himself picks the team, and that Sellars doesn’t have a say.

But there were then images doing the rounds on social media of Sellars sat in the stands at Molineux with a tactics board.

Some fans had chanted against the 56-year-old during the defeat to Leicester.

It has been reported that Sellars doesn’t have the final say on key decisions at the club, and now Bull – the club’s all-time top scorer – has come to his defence.

He said (via Express & Star): “Scott Sellars obviously has got the rough end of it but he’s a bit of a scapegoat at the minute.

“He has been an excellent technical director and brought some good kids to the club but someone was always going to get it in the neck. It happens at every club – look what happened to Steven Gerrard down the road at Villa.”

“I hope Wolves are able to bring in a new manager sooner rather than later though.

Scott Sellars criticism is understandable given his own past comments, but Jeff Shi must also collect fair share of blame

Wolves fans are right to question Sellars at the moment.

Back in March of this year, Sellars shed some light on his role at Molineux, stating that recruitment was a big focus of his and that it was a team decision.

He also said his responsibilities extend beyond recruitment.

So Sellars does have to face the music for the shambles Wolves find themselves in at the moment.

But Jeff Shi ought to face just as much, if not more criticism than Sellars.

He is the executive chairman who ultimately signs off on all the key decisions.
