Steve Bull claims Wolves have got one thing so wrong about Jorgen Strand Larsen

Jorgen Strand Larsen has been far from the player that he showcased last summer, but Steve Bull now has a theory as to what is going wrong at Wolves.

The Norwegian striker has been linked with a move away, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing his football come the end of January.

For Rob Edwards, he expects that to still be Wolves, but recent transfer rumours suggest differently. The Old Gold have been linked to Nashville’s Sam Surridge.

And the potential arrival of the Englishman has fans convinced of one thing.

However, until things change, Strand Larsen is still a Wolves player, and Steve Bull has suggested a way to get him firing.

Wolves fans, has the recent criticism of Jorgen Strand Larsen been overboard?

There have been some suggestions that Jorgen Strand Larsen has been downing tools ever since his summer switch to Newcastle fell through.

Larsen has scored just one goal since then, and supporters are becoming increasingly frustrated with him.

However, Steve Bull is not convinced that is the case and believes that his poor performances have been due to misusing the centre-forward.

Bull said (via Express and Star), “I look at him and think he is being played out of position. He is a proper number nine, but he’s dropping too deep into midfield and needs to be using the space behind defenders.

“We need to push him as high as we can and get the service into him for him to score the goals. Larsen is now being linked with a move in January, but he has to knuckle down, focus on Wolves and play for the shirt.

“Until the very last kick, you play for this club because they pay your wages and gave you the chance to play in the Premier League. I don’t think he’s the type of lad to down tools; he’s a trier and a hard worker.”

Do you think Jorgen Strand Larsen has downed tools this season?

Perhaps the failed summer move is still on his mind…

Bull has previously defended Jorgen Strand Larsen from criticism, as he felt he was not getting the service needed for a centre-forward.

However, with Tolu Arokodare available and firing at a quicker rate than the Norwegian, Rob Edwards has a big decision to make over the coming weeks on his primary striker.

Strand Larsen might not be downing tools, but form is enough to bench him

Steve Bull may be correct in his assessment, and Jorgen Strand Larsen is in fact not downing tools, but with Tolu Arokodare performing better, despite his limited minutes, it makes sense to give Larsen a few weeks on the bench.

So far this season, Tolu has a goals per 90 of 0.60 across all competitions, which is much better compared to Larsen’s 0.2.

It seems odd that the Nigerian has yet to be trusted to start a run of games, especially after his fantastic header against Arsenal.

If Wolves want Larsen to play a certain way that is not suiting his style, then it could be one that suits Arokodare much more.

It is time to trust the summer signing for a few weeks.
