‘Standout player’: Micah Richards admits 23-year-old Wolves star was ‘fantastic’ vs Man City

Micah Richards has hailed Pedro Neto after the winger shone against Manchester City for Wolves.

Wolves picked up three huge points against the odds with a brilliant display at Molineux.

Gary O’Neil switched to a back three with wing-backs and set up to counter City.

And it worked a treat, with Neto, Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha all brilliant.

And at the back Wolves were just solid, with Craig Dawson completely pocketing Erling Haaland, and Max Kilman and Toti Gomes also really solid.

Neto is the talk of the town again for his contributions – and former City defender Richards admitted he was just superb.

And he was enthusiastic in his praise for Neto, who forced the own goal from Ruben Dias in the first-half.

He said: “Neto was fantastic.

“Take nothing away from Wolves. They had to withstand the pressure. I think Man City had like 70% of possession in that game. But it’s what they (Wolves) did with it. I think Neto is up to like five assists now. He is a real standout player for them.

“In the end, although they had to weather the storm, they deserved something from the game.”

Neto a shining light for Wolves

Another game, another brilliant performance from Neto who is clearly full of confidence right now.

The way he left Phil Foden and Nathan Ake for dead for the opening goal was absolutely thrilling.

Ake is normally a very solid defender, but he was absolutely terrified of the winger on Saturday.

It is amazing to see Neto back on top form after all he’s been through.

And Wolves fans will hope he can keep it up for as a long as possible.
