Spurs now set to be without four players for Wolves clash

Tottenham Hotspur last night suffered a quadruple player blow, just days before their Premier League game with Wolves.

The north London giants were in action against Chelsea, and played out a highly entertaining match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Blues ran out 4-1 winners in the end.

It was perhaps the most crazy Premier League game of the season so far.

There were disallowed goals, red cards and injuries – with Mauricio Pochettino’s side coming away with all three points against his old club in the end.

It was absolutely remarkable to watch Spurs try to play an extremely high line against Chelsea with only nine men on the field.

Ange Postecoglu has come in for praise for setting up his team like this. Although some have also criticised him, believing it was a reckless plan.

Spurs were ultimately unable to keep Chelsea out, with life being made extremely difficult after Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off.

Defender Romero was dismissed in the first-half for a horror tackle on Enzo Fernandez.

Udogie then received a second booking early in the second-half.

Spurs had already lost two players in the first-half to injury. Micky van de Ven pulled up with what looked to be a hamstring injury.

After the game, Postecoglu stated that his injury was a ‘pretty significant one’. He will more than likely not be available for selection this weekend.

Tottenham also lost James Maddison midway through the first-half. The England international got a knock on the ankle and was withdrawn.

A big chance for Wolves

Tottenham’s squad took a real hit against Chelsea.

It now looks as though Postecoglu will have to field a very different side this weekend against Wolves.

The loss of van de Ven and Romero at the back is a huge blow for them, and the likes of Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha will be looking to cause real problems.

We will see if Maddison recovers in time to be selected.

If he is missing for Spurs, then it really is a good chance for Wolves to get something from the game.

Wolves will be hoping for a much better showing both from themselves and also the officials, having been stung once again against Sheffield United last weekend
