Gary O’Neil looks set to keep his job as Wolves manager for a little while longer after the win over Southampton.
Wolves beat the Saints 2-0 on Saturday at Molineux to claim their first three points of the season in the Premier League.
Matheus Cunha was the star of the show, setting up Pablo Sarabia in the opening stages before scoring a stunner in the second-half.
Despite the win over Southampton some Wolves fans still want O’Neil sacked.
For many, the win over Southampton merely papers over the cracks. It was not a particularly good performance from Wolves against the Saints, who lacked threat for all their possession.
Some felt Wolves actually got a bit lucky, with Ryan Manning seeing a goal chalked off in the first half for a foul on Nelson Semedo. But former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher thought Southampton’s goal was rightly ruled out.
There was also some controversy about the goal by Cunha, with Southampton pointing to two potential fouls in the build-up.
Cunha’s quality was the difference for Wolves, and some a fearful that Gary O’Neil will come unstuck in the coming games.
There’s been talk of who might come in to replace O’Neil, and one man has now officially become available.
Ruud van Nistelrooy officially leaves Manchester United

It has been announced by Manchester United this evening that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club after a brief stint as interim manager.
van Nistelrooy took the team for four games following the sacking of Erik ten Hag a couple of weeks ago, and has now stepped aside for incoming new manager Ruben Amorim.
van Nistelrooy isn’t staying on as part of the coaching staff, and is now unattached.
Some Wolves fans would take van Nistelrooy as Gary O’Neil replacement
Some Wolves fans have been talking about van Nistelrooy this evening on social media, following Manchester United’s official announcement.
There haven’t been any suggestions yet regarding van Nistelrooy’s next move, so speculation will now commence.
But some Wolves supporters feel the club should be moving for the United legend, who won three of his four games in temporary charge of United, drawing the other against Chelsea.
Wolves hiring van Nistelrooy would be risky
It’s probably very unlikely that Wolves will make a move for van Nistelrooy, as it seems O’Neil will at least be given the Fulham game.
It could well be that another club snaps van Nistelrooy up over the international break.
It would probably be a bit of a risk for Wolves to bring him in given the club’s current position, with the 48-year-old having only managed two Premier League games for United.

That said, van Nistelrooy had a good record at PSV Eindhoven, where he managed Wolves striker Fabio Silva who had a brief spell there on loan. He managed 50 games for the club, winning 34, drawing eight and losing eight.
He also won the Johan Cruyff Shield and the KNVB Cup.
Never say never, but the prospect of van Nistelrooy becoming Wolves manager seems very low.
