Wolves striker Fabio Silva was handed his full Premier League debut against Aston Villa yesterday, and fans have been talking about his showing on social media.
Nuno Espirito Santo decided to take the plunge and put his faith in the youngster, having gone with Daniel Podence through the middle against Liverpool.
This time Podence operated in the hole and on the right at times, with Silva the focal point.
The youngster had some positive moments in the match, and came within a whisker of opening his account for the first-team, striking the post in the second half.
He also attempted an overhead kick at one point, which didn’t trouble Emi Martinez but the ambition was to be praised.
It was not a bad showing by any means from the £35.6 million summer signing (BBC Sport), who clearly will need minutes to build momentum and understanding with his teammates.
It’s a big task for him playing as a lone striker in place of a man who is so revered at Molineux.
Raul Jimenez is always a threat when he plays, even when he isn’t in the best form goalscoring form, so that is additional pressure for young Silva.
But yesterday he produced a commendable showing, and Nuno Espirito Santo did praise him in his post-match interview.
