Some Wolves fans believe they will beat an embarrassing Premier League record this season

Mood could not be lower around Molineux after Wolves’ 2-0 loss to Sunderland, with fans fearing the worst this season already.

Two points from eight games has the future looking bleak for the Old Gold.

Hugo Bueno believes Wolves know the issue, but knowing and fixing it are two separate things.

Additionally, some fans are growing impatient with Vitor Pereira, and they believe they are on their way to setting an embarrassing record in the Premier League.

Wolves fans think they are on course for lowest ever Premier League points total

With just two points from eight games, the possibility of beating Derby County’s lowest Premier League total of 11 points from 2007/2008 is starting to look likely for some fans.

Just last season, it seemed like Wolves had hired a manager that could change their fortunes and turn them away from the relegation battle.

However, this season has seen them have one of their worst starts. Last campaign, the Old Gold had one less point, but the level of opposition they faced was much higher – important context to add.

Gary O’Neil faced Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in his opening eight matches, all of which earned Champions League football for this season.

The fixtures have been much kinder this year, yet results have been eerily similar, leading fans to fear the worst for their points total.

@satsomboon, “Wolves are record breakers, and I feel we can beat Derby County to the lowest points tally in Premier League history.”

@tod1877, “Derby are rubbing their hands after seeing how bad this Wolves team is.”

@1957RAB, “That Derby points total looks a million miles away. That’s how bad we are.”

@AlwaysTired1104, “Derby 07/08, we’re coming for you.”

@kalen_wwfc, “Beat Derby’s record, most goals conceded, lowest goals scored, YOU WOLVES!”

Derby had more points at this stage in the season

In the 2007/2008 season, Derby had five points after eight matches, three more points than Wolves currently have.

Of course, last season the Old Gold were in a much worse spot, but they had players with immense quality who could pull them through.

The loss of Rayan Ait Nouri and Matheus Cunha has left gaps that have not been filled properly, and as fans state, that record could be broken.

The next fixtures make it difficult to see how Wolves could amass enough points to put them in a better position to fight relegation.
