Some Wolves fans are saying the same thing about Vitor Pereira after Sunderland loss

Wolves are still winless in the Premier League after falling to Sunderland, and some fans have had a lot to say about Vitor Pereira.

Wolves were beaten 2-0 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, and are now starting to get cut adrift at the bottom.

Ideally Wolves needed six points from Sunderland and Burnley. There is now only hope of getting three – and after the performance at Sunderland, very few fans are optimistic about a win against the Clarets.

Vitor Pereira now finds himself under big pressure.

Yes, he recently signed a new contract at Molineux with the owners looking for some stability during a turbulent period.

But results have not been good enough. And neither have performances.

Pereira has often said the right things in the interviews and press conferences, and expressed confidence that he can turn things around.

But we are just not seeing clear progress, and the situation is now massively concerning.

And after yesterday’s defeat, some fans have been talking about Pereira’s future.

Pereira made a fantastic start at Wolves.

Last season he came in and did a fantastic job, keeping Wolves in the Premier League and changing the picture and outlook at Molineux.

He built a brilliant connection with the fans, and was regularly seen out in Wolverhampton sharing in their joy.

But some are now wondering if it’s time for a change.

Pereira – who admitted losing his Wolves players would mean he is ‘finished’ – has overseen a truly dreadful run of results, and has also made a string of questionable in-game decisions that have left supporters worried.

@jackwolves17: “Sack him ASAP. Although I think even the greatest tactical mind in the world couldn’t save this group of players.”

@RK13_4: “Get him gone tonight. He has no idea tactically and his subs are horrendous. Yes poor recruitment, yes players aren’t up to it but tactics are shocking rather go down showing a bit of fight and an idea.”

@JB_F1_: “Get him gone.”

@DamionDuckworth: “Time to go Vitor.”

@HarryCarr98: “Absolutely no reason for Vitor to keep his job – to make a comparable start to the one we had under O’Neil (with easier fixtures) is dire. But this season has been a disaster from the top down and whoever is in charge, relegation looks inevitable before the end of October.”

Fosun at fault for Wolves demise, but Pereira not blameless

There can be no denying that the main culprit behind Wolves’ demise in recent years is Fosun and their strategy.

You can only go so long buying players for modest fees and trying to develop them into household names, before that MO comes back to bite you.

Simply put, Fosun have played with fire and could now get burnt, with Wolves’ squad just not good enough. The effort is there, but the quality is not.

Pereira is also not without blame, and calls for his removal from some are understandable.

Ultimately, he played a big part in the recruitment in the summer, having the final say on players coming in.

He has not won a game in the Premier League since April 26 against Leicester City, and has been making a number of questionable in-game decisions this term, whether it be substitutions or tweaks to the system.

Perhaps Pereira will be sacked soon. And maybe that will change Wolves’ fortunes for a period.

But while these owners remain at the helm, there can be no true optimism or long-term success.
