Wolves slipped to defeat in the Premier League against Aston Villa today, losing 1-0 at Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were undone by an injury-time penalty, given away by Nelson Semedo for a clumsy challenge on John McGinn.

Villa substitute Anwar El Ghazi stepped up to convert to condemn Wolves to a second straight defeat and a fifth in the league in total.

Nuno again set up with four at the back, and it was a similar story to previous matches; chances being created but no cutting edge.

In fairness, Emi Martinez in the Villa goal had an outstanding performance, but the lack of goals in the side at the moment will be a real concern for the manager.

Fabio Silva was handed his full Premier League debut and did OK, but it will take time for the youngster to get familiar with the nature of the division.

It’s a big ask for him to replace Raul Jimenez, but hopefully a run of games will soon lead to goals in the Mexican’s absence.

One man who caught the eye of people watching at home was Daniel Podence.

Although he couldn’t provide any goals himself, the forward was extremely lively once again.

On social media, both Wolves fans and some neutrals praised the Portuguese’s attacker for his entertaining and direct style:
