Some Coventry fans react as Wolves recall Ryan Giles

Some Coventry City fans have been reacting on social media, after Wolves opted to recall defender Ryan Giles.

The 20-year-old had been due to spend the whole 2020/21 season on loan at St. Andrew’s, but the club have ended his stint prematurely seemingly due to concerns about game time.

Giles was left out by manager Mark Robins at the weekend for the Championship game against Reading, with there being too many loanees in the matchday squad.

Rules permit clubs to name five in an 18-man squad, with Robins selecting four others and Viktor Gyokeres, who has just arrived on a temporary basis from Brighton.

In total, Giles made 21 appearances for City, and was a regular towards the beginning of the season.

In recent weeks though, Robins gave less minutes to Giles.

Before missing out entirely against Reading, he had started just one game against Preston North End since December 5, and the lack of minutes may explain Wolves’ decision.

It is being reported (Coventry Telegraph) that Wolves intend to send Giles to another Championship club who will hopefully start him every game.

Wolves’ decision actually now leaves Robins a little short at left-back, and some Coventry fans have been reacting to the news on social media.

Although there wasn’t really anything Coventry could do, some fans are quite frustrated about Wolves recalling their young talent. It seems the youngster made quite an impression on them:
