Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic has hailed Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White after a fantastic start to the 2021/22 season.

The 21-year-old has started the new campaign in terrific form.

So far for the Blades, the Englishman has played three games and scored two goals and laid on two assists.

He again impressed at the weekend, this time against Hull City in a 3-1 away win.

Gibbs-White headed to Bramall Lane on transfer deadline day a few weeks ago, much to the confusion of some Wolves supporters.

One or two felt the move would leave Wolves a bit short if there wasn’t going to be a replacement coming in.

Gibbs-White had also looked sharp in pre-season, and starred against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

But the decision was made for him to depart, and Blades boss Jokanovic is certainly impressed.

He said (Sheffield Star): “He (Gibbs-White) is one of our very talented individuals. He is very talented in fact and is a Premier League player.

“He is a guy already with good experience and is coming here, looking for space on the field. We have been able to give him that space and he is competing with the group and also supporting it.”

Arguably, Gibbs-White has started the current season even better than he did the last when he was on loan with Swansea City.

Ultimately that stint was ruined by injury, and hopefully this spell can be much more productive for him.

A brilliant start for Gibbs-White

It is great to hear Gibbs-White has settled quickly and is performing well.

Perhaps he could have stuck around at Molineux, but on the other hand, a full season of regular minutes should do his confidence and development the world of good.

Playing regularly is the most important thing for a player of his age.

Hopefully, he can maintain this kind of form throughout and return to Wolves a vastly improved player.
