Six Wolves players have already booked their spots at the 2026 World Cup

World Cup qualifying is underway, as nations look to set their path to North America for the summer.

Wolves have a record number of players away on international duty, as they hope to make football’s biggest tournament.

Despite no domestic football, fans have plenty of Wolves players to tune into. Additionally, one fixture could see three Old Gold players share the pitch.

With qualification taking place, six players have already booked their tickets for next summer, as 19 teams are confirmed.

Hwang Hee-Chan – South Korea

The Asian Football Confederation features four rounds for qualification, with South Korea receiving a bye into the second.

They topped their group undefeated, setting their path for the third. First and second in each group of this round qualify for the World Cup.

Hwang Hee-Chan and South Korea went undefeated once more in the third round. South Korea qualified for the World Cup after winning Group B in the Asian qualifiers.

Throughout the whole qualification process, the Wolves forward played 11 games, scoring four goals.

He is likely to be part of their squad for the tournament after playing a major role in qualifying. Fans will remember his iconic goal against Portugal in the last World Cup.

Jhon Arias and Yerson Mosquera – Colombia

South American World Cup qualifiers are more straightforward and simply feature a league table where each of the ten nations plays each other twice.

The top six qualify for the tournament, and Colombia finished in third place.

Jhon Arias has been an ever-present member for Los Cafeteros during qualification, although Arias was left out of the recent team so he can adapt at Wolves.

Arias played 17 out of 18 games during qualifiers, so injury aside, it would feel pretty harsh to exclude him from the World Cup squad.

Mosquera, on the other hand, has played just four matches, so his place on the plane could be in doubt, particularly due to his lack of minutes at Wolves.

Santiago Bueno – Uruguay

In the South American qualification table, Uruguay finished fourth, meaning Santiago Bueno has booked his ticket to North America.

His participation in the tournament is up in the air, having just made four appearances over the two-year qualification process, although he has been named in the last four Uruguayan squads for the international breaks.

Recent form suggests he should be on the plane for Uruguay. Bueno has made himself a real asset for the Old Gold and right now is one of their key players.

Andre and Joao Gomes – Brazil

Brazil qualified for the World Cup after finishing in fifth place during the qualification process.

Andre and Joao Gomes perhaps have the biggest hurdle to face when making their claim to be on the plane for the tournament.

However, Andre has featured in ten qualification games for the Selecao, with his teammate Joao Gomes only playing in two.

Brazil fans were not pleased to see the Wolves duo in their latest squad, so they face an uphill battle to prove themselves ahead of football’s biggest tournament.

Brazil have tonnes of quality all across their squad, and with Wolves struggling in the Premier League, that could be detrimental for their chances.

They’ll be wanting to impress at any chance they are given.
