Significant update on Gary O’Neil’s future drops which may please Wolves fans

Gary O’Neil’s long-term future as Wolves manager is still up for debate as the Old Gold fight for Premier League survival.

Wolves are not in a good spot. Sat 19th in the Premier League, they are now two points from safety.

While the Old Gold’s form has significantly improved in recent weeks, their performances have not.

Despite a crucial victory over Southampton before the international break, many Wolves fans still wanted O’Neil sacked after a poor showing.

O’Neil managed to hold onto his job throughout the last two weeks and now faces some highly-important fixtures.

However, not only could they be important for the club but also for the manager’s future.

The next six fixtures are vital for the Old Gold. Many of the clubs they are set to face are teams around them including West Ham, Everton, Ipswich and Leicester.

Multiple victories could pull the club clear of danger whereas further defeats could see them cut adrift.

Therefore, points are more vital than ever and if this is not achieved O’Neil’s reign at Wolves could be over.

According to journalist Tom Collomosse, O’Neil is still under pressure going into the next few games.

In preparation for the worst outcome, Wolves had ‘tentative conversations’ over potential replacements if the Englishman is sacked.

If O’Neil wants to keep his job at Wolves multiple victories at needed and quickly.

The club faces one of the easiest run of games it will have this season, with many of their opponents also out of form.

Multiple wins are needed to capitalise on this, pull Wolves out of the relegation zone and give them a buffer before they face another series of tough tests going into the new year.

10 points from his next six games are needed at a minimum to achieve this. If not, O’Neil could well be out of a job.
