Gary O’Neil’s side are struggling at Molineux while one player is shining on the international stage.
The October international break came at a welcomed time for Wolves, who have had a dreadful start to the 2024/25 calendar.
It’s been over five months since the Old Gold last won in the Premier League, putting pressure on O’Neil to get his side performing to the level required to earn three points.
Wolves have started the league season with one draw and six defeats from their opening seven games, but not everyone is struggling.

Fabio Silva leads U21 scoring charts
The Old Gold’s business in the summer led to some of the problems that O’Neil is facing this season, with players sold and not replaced sufficiently.
Max Kilman departed in July and a new centre-back was not acquired, leaving Wolves incredibly short in the position.
As well as the club captain, Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence departed permanently, with a host of players leaving on loan.
One talent who was expected to cut ties with Wolves, but instead left temporarily, was Fabio Silva, who is currently at Las Palmas in La Liga.
The Portuguese striker has one goal in five appearances in the Spanish top flight however, his form on the international stage tells a different story.
In the U21 Euro 2025 qualifiers, Silva leads the scoring charts, having netted eight goals in 10 games for Portugal U21.
The striker’s record to lead his nation to the finals sees him ahead of the likes of Premier League stars Noni Madueke and Harvey Elliott, who impressed in the qualifiers for England.
Silva has been in fine scoring form at international level, thriving for Portugal U21 alongside Wolves youngsters Carlos Forbs and Rodrigo Gomes.
Wolves weren’t a good match for Silva
The 22-year-old may be ensuring that his name is still spoken about with regard to a strong scoring record however, the forward flattered to deceive at Molineux.
Silva’s contract at Wolves ends in 2026, which will see him return from loan to enter his final year with the Old Gold.
Since welcoming the former Porto starlet for £35m in 2020, Silva has scored only five goals in 72 appearances for Wolves, with his transfer proving to be a significant blunder by Nuno Santo.
Silva’s ship has certainly sailed at Molineux however, it’s positive to see him find form elsewhere, being a player still on Wolves’ books.
