Wolves expert Liam Keen has had his say on one candidate for the club’s Player of the Season for 2024/25.
The wait is finally over as Wolves return to competitive action on Saturday afternoon at the Emirates Stadium.
Gary O’Neil would have hoped for a less difficult game to ease his side into the Premier League, with Arsenal on the prowl for the title.
Wolves will have 38 games to attempt to improve on their 14th-place finish last term, with predictions already being made on who the club’s Player of the Season could be next May.

Liam Keen makes bold prediction for Wolves’ 2024/25 Player of the Season
When previewing the Premier League opener against Arsenal, Wolves experts Liam Keen and Nathan Judah discussed their outright predictions for the 2024/25 calendar.
Speaking on the E&S Wolves Podcast, the journalists shared some bold calls for the season ahead, with Keen backing Toti Gomes to take home Wolves’ Player of the Season prize.
“Wolves 2024/25 player of the season will be Toti Gomes, I think we’re going with this new system, this new style of a very aggressive pressing system,” Keen explained.
“Toti Gomes has had a good pre-season, at the moment if it’s going to be Mosquera and Toti starting, he is the most senior of the two.”
Keen went on to explain that he believes Toti can handle the pressure and prevail as an integral cog in O’Neil’s defensive machine this season.
“There’s a lot of pressure and responsibility on his shoulders but he’s very athletic, very quick.
“Wolves are going to be entertaining to watch and I think with that will come a lot of very masterful Toti Gomes performances. I’m going to throw Toti in the ring [to win Player of the Season]”
Toti Gomes will be one to watch for Wolves
When assessing who Wolves’ most important players could be over the season ahead, calls for Toti are less likely than the likes of Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Joao Gomes, to name a few.
That being said, the 25-year-old emerged as a vital part of O’Neil’s back line last season, excelling on the left side of a central back three.

Now that O’Neil is likely to revert to a back four, as he has done all pre-season, Toti’s role could become even more important, as the centre-back has been partnering with returning loanee Yerson Mosquera through the summer.
Season upon season, the Portugal international is growing in confidence and ability, exposing himself to be a defender more than capable of battling the challenges that come in the Premier League.
