Shay Given was left blown away by the performances of Wolves duo Matheus Cunha and Pedro Neto in the 4-2 win over Chelsea.
Gary O’Neil‘s side moved up into 10th place in the Premier League table, after blowing the Blues away at Stamford Bridge.
Wanderers players brushed themselves down after the defeat to Manchester United in midweek to produce one of their very best performances of the season so far.
Wolves were brilliant, with Ben Chilwell admitting after the game that Wolves wanted it more than Chelsea, and were more clinical.
Cunha was certainly clinical, scoring a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge, which is something only three other players have managed.
His performance was lapped up by Shay Given on last night’s Match of the Day 2, with the former goalkeeper also impressed by Neto…
Wolves duo Cunha and Neto praised by Shay Given on Match of the Day

Perhaps inevitably, there was a focus on Wolves duo Cunha and Neto during the analysis of the game on Match of the Day 2 last night.
Cunha put in his best display in a Wolves shirt since he arrived at the club, and Neto was also outstanding playing through the middle and then drifting out to the right.
The pair impressed Given, who said: “These two up top for them are absolutely superb. Cunha and Neto were superb they really were. They ran this Chelsea defence ragged and they did since the very start of the game.
“(On the second Wolves goal) I like this from Neto, he occupies the Chilwell to create the space for the full-back and then he goes again into the space two vs one on the wing against Chelsea.
“(Third Wolves goal) Again look at this from Neto, can he pick out his partner? Of course he can. Cunha is arriving, brilliant finish. And here he goes again against Gusto. He’s got a real burst of pace, really fast, and it’s a poor challenge and it’s a stonewall penalty. But again, the pace of this guy is brilliant.”
What a duo
Neto and Cunha were both amazing yesterday and gave the Chelsea defence a truly torrid time at Stamford Bridge.
Their pace frightened the living daylights out of them, and both players probably upped their market value by at least a few more million pounds each.
Perhaps the one downside of Wolves winning so brilliantly against Chelsea was that big clubs will no doubt have taken note of Cunha and Neto for their contributions against the Blues. Especially Neto, who has been at Wolves since 2019 and may be ‘due’ to move on from Molineux soon.
With that in mind, Wanderers fans must enjoy this amazing double act while they still can.
