Sean Dyche drops verdict on Wolves under Rob Edwards so far ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

It’s a quick turnaround for Wolves who face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Wednesday – and Sean Dyche has offered his thoughts about the Old Gold.

Wolves fell to another defeat on Sunday, losing to Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park.

It was a frustrating loss, with Wolves actually putting in a positive performance that was full of spirit.

But the quality just wasn’t there in the end, with Boubacar Kamara – who actually praised Wolves’ defensive shape – providing just that for the hosts to claim all three points.

Wolves are now looking to dust themselves off ready for the visit of Forest in midweek.

Forest started the season under Nuno Espirito Santo, but a falling out with owner Evangelos Marinakis led to his departure in October, with Sean Dyche replacing him.

Dyche spoke at his press conference yesterday, and was asked for his thoughts about Wolves and Rob Edwards.

This will be another tough test for Wolves.

Forest sit just above the relegation zone right now, and will see this fixture as a real chance to move away.

Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to be passed fit to face Wolves, and there are plenty of other threats like Callum Hudson-Odoi, Igor Jesus and Elliot Anderson.

Throwback to when Wolves left Nottingham Forest red-faced on social media 🤣

Dyche was asked about Wolves yesterday at his press conference, and said: “Well certainly I think they looked strong against Aston Villa, who are going well themselves.

“Look, new manager, the way he’s trying to work with them, changing things, getting more out of them – we’ve got to be ready for that. I think we will be.

On Edwards, Dyche added: “I know him a little bit. I met him on many previous occasions. He’s a good fella, and trying to work hard now to correct things at his football club.”

Dyche was complimentary about Wolves, but he will undoubtedly feel this is a chance for his side to get three big points.

But Wolves did look good at times against Villa and, clearly, there have already been improvements since he came in. So the players have to believe that this elusive first Premier League win will finally come on Wednesday.

In terms of the recent meetings between Wolves and Forest, it’s the Reds who have had more joy.

Four of the six Premier League meetings between Wolves and Nottingham Forest have been drawn, with each side winning once each.

Wolves haven’t beaten Forest in any of the last six meetings between the two teams. Four of those games were draws, with two wins for Forest.

Wolves’ last win over the Reds came in 2022, when Ruben Neves scored in a 1-0 win. That, of course, was when Wolves mocked Forest on social media with the now infamous ‘Playtime’s over’ clapback message.

That 1-0 win remains the only time Wolves have ever beaten Forest in the Premier League.
