Sean Dyche drops Morgan Gibbs-White injury update as Wolves gear up to face Nottingham Forest

Wolves are back in Premier League action on Wednesday and today, Sean Dyche gave an update on the fitness of Morgan Gibbs-White.

On Sunday it was yet another loss for Wolves, as they fell against Aston Villa.

The Old Gold were undone by a goal from Boubacar Kamara, which was a sickener after Wolves had played well and created chances.

Ultimately, a lack of a killer touch in front of goal and fine goalkeeping from Emi Martinez was why Wolves failed to score.

But Wolves cannot dwell too much on the result, with the next game taking place at Molineux on Wednesday.

Nottingham Forest are in town, and this fixture tends to have a bit of spiciness to it. Who could forget when Forest poked the bear with their infamous ‘Playtime’ tweet, before losing 1-0 at Molineux.

And one man who has added to that spice in the past is Morgan Gibbs-White.

Like Wolves, Forest have had a difficult start to the new season.

Having done so well last term under Nuno Espirito Santo, who guided the Reds to Europe, Forest are hovering just above the relegation zone right now.

Dyche replaced Nuno in October and has done well so far, winning four of the eight games he’s taken, drawing two and losing two.

It’ll be another big test for Wolves – and it looks as though Gibbs-White is likely to feature.

Gibbs-White, who left Wolves for Forest in 2022, was forced off against Brighton at the weekend. But Dyche said at his press conference today (via Nottinghamshire Live): “He came off with a knock so we are expecting him to be OK.

“He’s had it checked out today and he feels a bit better, so hopefully he will be ready for selection.”

Wolves must contain Gibbs-White

So it sounds like Gibbs-White will feature against Wolves on Wednesday, and he is sure to get a frosty reception at Molineux.

There has been bad blood between Gibbs-White and some Wolves fans over the past couple of years.

Some never took kindly to him leaving, although the money that Forest offered was just too good for Wolves to turn down at the time.

Sinnce his exit, there was the Carabao Cup clash between Forest and Wolves at the City Ground in January 2023, when Gibbs-White put his fingers in his ears after scoring the penalty shootout.

Gibbs-White then replicated that gesture when he scored against Wolves in April 2024 and also January 2025.

He tends to play with fire in his belly against Wolves, and Edwards must therefore come up with a plan to keep his influence to an absolute minimum.
