Sasa Kalajdzic sends Instagram message after news of ACL injury

Sasa Kalajdzic has taken to Instagram to send a message to Wolves fans, after the striker suffered an ACL injury during the 1-0 win over Southampton.

The striker was making his debut at Molineux, just days after signing for the club from Stuttgart.

Fans had been really exciting to see a new centre-forward leading the line following more struggles to score goals.

But Kalajdzic landed awkwardly when trying to bring a high ball down under pressure from two Saints defenders.

He received treatment on the pitch, and actually then carried on playing for another five minutes or so before the half-time whistle blew.

Wolves then substituted him for Goncalo Guedes at the break.

On Sunday evening, the club provided an update on his condition, saying he had suffered ACL damager.

The star is seeing a knee specialist today to establish the extent of the damage and to perhaps get a bearing on when he might be back.

It is an extremely cruel blow for Kalajdzic, who had already really struck a chord with fans for the way he came across on the day he signed for the club.

Kalajdzic was praised for how friendly and down to earth he was with everyone on his first day in the building.

Yesterday, the Austria international took to Instagram to express his sadness at the situation.

He said: “I don‘t know how I should start. Everything in the last couple of days went really fast and obviously I‘m speechless about what happened yesterday.

“I was hoping on posting my first picture here with a smile on my face celebrating with my new teammates our first win of this season.

“Unfortunately, I won‘t be helping the team in the next months but I will work hard to be back as soon as possible and even stronger than before. Thank you for all the messages, it means a lot to me.”

The cruelest of blows for Sasa Kalajdzic as star makes emotional Instagram post

Kalajdzic must be absolutely gutted right now.

The star will have been itching to make a good impression for his new club, and he showed himself to be a real handful in that first-half against Southampton.

To suffer an ACL injury on your day is about as bad as it gets.

He now faces months on the sidelines, and hopefully he will have the best support.

He’ll at least have company during his rehab in the form of Chiquinho, who also suffered an ACL injury during pre-season.

During the low points, he can also confide in Jonny Castro Otto, who has suffered two ACL injuries during his time at Molineux.
