Sasa Kalajdzic forced off with injury for Eintracht Frankfurt after just 11 minutes

Concerning reports have emerged today about Sasa Kalajdzic, with the Wolves striker being forced off for Eintracht Frankfurt with a knee injury.

The Austria international joined the Bundesliga outfit early on in the January transfer window, after a lack of game time at Wolves.

Kalajdzic struggled to displace any of Matheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-chan or Pedro Neto, and so the decision was made to facilitate a loan move.

The hope for Wolves officials was for Kalajdzic to make himself a regular, and the player was obviously also very keen to do that, especially with Euro 2024 coming up this summer.

But some concerning news has surfaced today, with Kalajdzic seemingly suffering another injury setback…

Today, Eintracht took on SC Freiburg in their 22nd league game of the season.

After scoring his first goal for the club in midweek in the Europa Conference League against Union Saint-Gilloise, Karadzic was selected to start for the Hessien club by manager Dino Topmoller.

After just 11 minutes though, Kalajdzic went down under no contact. Sky Sports Austria have worryingly reported that the striker ‘immediately grabbed his knee’.

As Wolves fans know full well, Kalajdzic has a history of knee problems.

The striker suffered an ACL injury while he was at Stuttgart, and then suffered another on his debut for Wanderers in September 2022, which ruled him out for the rest of that season.

At the moment, it is far too early for any kind of diagnosis for his latest injury. There will no doubt be word on his condition in the coming days.

Worrying news

This will undoubtedly concern a lot of people because everybody knows what horrendous luck Kalajdzic has had in the past with knee injuries.

Hopefully, this won’t turn out to be as bad as the injuries he’s sustained previously, but it’s a real worry.

Kalajdzic has had a hugely frustrating past year and if anyone deserves a break it’s him, so hopefully it’s not bad news.
