Santi Bueno hasn’t had the easiest ride at Wolves, but the defender has certainly turned a few heads with his latest move.
It was during the 2023 summer transfer window that Wolves signed Bueno from Girona in an £8.5m deal.
Since then, it’s fair to say that things have been turbulent for the Uruguayan at Molineux, with his suitability for the Premier League not yet decided.
Bueno is more than aware of his struggle to adapt to the English game, but remains a valued member of Vitor Pereira’s squad.
Wolves fans are yet to make a decision on whether they want to see the 26-year-old in the West Midlands long-term, but his latest actions have certainly swayed some opinions.

Fans react as Santi Bueno wears a Wolves shirt to his wedding
There were reports linking Bueno to leaving Wolves this summer amid his struggles; however, something peculiar might indicate a different stance.
Right now, transfers and football in general are not at the forefront of the Uruguay international’s mind, as while on his summer holidays, the defender tied the knot.
Enzo Gonzalez and Yerson Mosquera were in attendance as Bueno got married, but that wasn’t what caught the eye of Wolves fans at the wedding.
Amid the celebrations, a photo of Bueno in a retro Wolves shirt was shared on Instagram, and it’s fair to say that fans absolutely loved it.
“Fairs lifetime contract,” a supporter said, as many others agreed.
“Retro shirt on at his own wedding fairs santi you dont have a hater in me.”
Another fan joked that Bueno’s outfit choice has earned him a spot in the starting XI next season.
“Retro Wolves jersey at his own wedding. That’ll do, there’s my starting CB next season sorted.”
Wolves fans haven’t loved Bueno’s performances since he made the move to the Premier League, but the opinion of the centre-back has changed quite significantly after photos from his wedding surfaced.
“No one could make me hate this bloke,” a Wolves fan said, as another insisted, “He’s one of us now.”
Bueno was described as an ‘absolute legend’ by another Wolves supporter, as others were wowed by him wearing the shirt.
“Wolves shirt at his own wedding wow Santi fairs.”
After Matheus Cunha made Wolves fans fume with his social media activity after joining Manchester United, the Brazilian was compared to Bueno by a supporter after the centre-back’s wedding.
“A man who actually loves his club. Cunha could never,” they said.
Bueno has changed some opinions
Fans have watched their opinion on the Uruguayan change after he sported a Wolves shirt at his wedding, but the defender still has some questions to answer on the pitch.
Bueno was blasted by Andy Thompson for his inability to win duels against forwards, as his lack of strength has been consistently mentioned since he arrived.
The 26-year-old is certainly better suited to a league that is less physically intense than the Premier League, but that doesn’t mean to say that he can’t adapt as time goes on.
The issue is that Bueno isn’t a part of Pereira’s favoured XI, which limits the player’s game time before the season has even started.
It will be interesting to see where Bueno’s future lies, but for now, he’ll enjoy being adored by fans.
