Wolves full-back Ruben Vinagre has been tipped to return to Molineux, having failed to impress at Sporting CP so far.
The youngster was named in a feature by Jornal de Noticias, which analysed signings by the top three teams in Portugal.
On Sporting, Vinagre is named as a signing who isn’t quite cutting it.
He has only made 10 appearances for the club so far, and has struggled to build momentum thanks to injury.
He hasn’t actually featured now for the last couple of months.
When Vinagre’s move to Sporting was confirmed, Wolves confirmed that the Portuguese outfit had an option to buy the player.
Jornal de Noticias cast doubt on that buy option being triggered, given the way he has failed to impose himself.
One wonders if we could see Vinagre change clubs mid-season again.
Last term he went out on loan to Olympiacos, but a lack of game time with the Greek giants saw Wolves recall him and then send him to Farmalicao.
He did well there, and caught the attention of Sporting.
Unfortunately he hasn’t really made the most of his move so far.
Wolves may wish to recall Ruben Vinagre from his loan again
It will be interesting to see if Wolves move to recall Vinagre from his loan at Sporting CP.
They surely won’t want to, given a buy option has been negotiated.
But if he isn’t getting the minutes, then there will be no chance to club activating the buy clause.
The club may wish to gamble, and facilitate a new loan move for him. It worked last season.
But given his lack of form this term, Wolves may have to agree to a lower buy option for the new suitor.
