Wolves are up and running for the 2023/24 season after beating Everton 1-0 yesterday in the Premier League.
After losing the first two games to Manchester United and Brighton, Gary O’Neil now has his first points as Wanderers manager.
Wolves could very easily have lost this game.
Everton fashioned a number of chances and goalkeeper Jose Sa had to be at his very best to keep the Toffees at bay.
His save from Abdoulaye Doucoure was arguably the best seen in the Premier League so far this season.
Staying in the game allowed Wolves to strike late on.
And it was Sasa Kalajdzic who stole the headlines, heading Pedro Neto’s cross.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
It was a brilliant moment for the big man, who has worked so hard to come back from his ACL injury.
And it wasn’t just Wolves fans who were delighted with yesterday’s outcome…
Ruben Neves delighted for Sasa Kalajdzic and Wolves after late winner vs Everton
After the game, Wolves and Kalajdzic jointly uploaded a clip of the striker scoring against Everton.
And there was a lot of love for the Austrian from supporters.
But there was also a comment left by former Wolves captain Ruben Neves.
Neves, sold to Saudi club Al Hilal earlier this summer, reacted to the goal by commenting three heart-eyes emojis.

Clearly he was delighted for Kalajdzic to be able to score a crucial winner.
Nice to see from Neves
Neves said at the time of his exit ‘Once a wolf, always a wolf’, and fans will not doubt that for one second.
It’s lovely to see him still having a vested interest in what Wolves are doing.

Yesterday’s result was perhaps the biggest for the club in months.
It was so important to get points on the board against a side struggling as Everton are. And it is also now really important for Wolves to kick on.
