Ruben Neves declines to comment on Raul Jimenez's injury situation as Wolves pair gear up for World Cup

Ruben Neves reportedly declined to comment on his Wolves teammate Raul Jimenez, as the pair get ready for the World Cup.

The midfielder will be on duty with Portugal on Thursday when they take on Ghana in their first group stage match.

Jimenez’s Mexico are in action on Tuesday against Poland.

It remains to be seen how much, if at all, Jimenez will feature.

The star did play for 45 minutes in Mexico’s final warm up game against Sweden earlier this week. That is something that did not go down particularly well with some Wolves fans.

Prior to that, Jimenez had not kicked a ball since Wolves’ 0-0 draw with Bournemouth at the end of August.

Tata Martino has been very keen to get Jimenez back involved for the national team. But Wolves will be wary about their man being rushed back and having a setback.

The situation with Jimenez has been cause for frustration for a lot of Wolves fans.

Interestingly, Neves was actually asked about it this week. But the 25-year-old opted not to comment (via TUDN).

It is possible he simply doesn’t even know where his Molineux teammate is up to with his recovery.

Jimenez was last at Compton Park a couple of weeks ago, and both players will likely have been keeping focused on their jobs at hand since then.

Raul Jimenez’s involvement for Mexico at the World Cup will be very interesting for Wolves fans

So there was no word from Neves about Jimenez, and that’s no real surprise.

Even if he knew something, there was probably no chance he’d be letting the press know.

It will be very interesting to see how much Jimenez does play in Qatar.

Some Wolves fans haven’t been happy with his situation in recent weeks, and some are having trouble with the player’s recovery coinciding with the start of the World Cup.

And others are just worried. Worried about Jimenez being rushed back and suffering a setback.

It would be extremely frustrating if Jimenez ended up getting ruled for many more weeks. Julen Lopetegui would likely be a very unhappy man if that happened.
