Ruben Neves and others send messages to Craig Dawson on Instagram after another solid display

Wolves ran out 2-1 winners over Southampton at the weekend – and it was another great display from Craig Dawson at the back.

Dawson made headlines the weekend before by scoring on his debut against Liverpool in the 3-0 win.

He also hardly put a foot wrong against the Reds.

And on Saturday against the Saints it was much of the same from Dawson.

There was no goal this time. But the star was a colossus at the back once more alongside Max Kilman.

Julen Lopetegui decided to go with the 32-year-old again at St. Mary’s, with Nathan Collins again having to settle for a place on the bench.

According to Sofascore, Dawson made a total of seven clearances in the match.

He also rarely wasted a pass, completing 54/61 attempted (84%).

After the game, Dawson took to Instagram to post a message to fans. He said: “Great team resilience. We keep fighting!”

A simple message, from a man who plays the game in a simple way, which is what makes him so brilliant.

Dawson is no-nonsense. A real defender, who has brought solidity, organisation and leadership to to Wolves.

At just £3.3 million, he has the potential to become one of the club’s best bargains in years.

And Dawson is clearly already well respected by his teammates.

Several commented on his Instagram post.

Ruben Neves commented ‘Boss’. Dan Bentley said ‘Block’ with a magnet emoji. A very appropriate choice of emoji given how many headers he wins.
