Wolves’ new arrival Rodrigo Gomes has been told one thing will benefit him ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
After confirming the permanent transfer of Tommy Doyle from Manchester City, Wolves announced the signing of Rodrigo Gomes.
The 21-year-old arrived from Braga having turned away from interest from Atletico Madrid in favour of joining Gary O’Neil’s project at Molineux.
So far, the Portuguese winger has impressed during pre-season and has now been informed that one part of his game will help him in the long campaign ahead.

Rodrigo Gomes can benefit from one key thing at Wolves as Pedro Neto claim is made
After excelling during a loan spell at Estoril during the 2023/24 season, it’s no surprise that Wolves were drawn to the talent of Gomes.
The youngster got to work straight away with O’Neil, taking part in the squad’s pre-season training camp in Marbella, as well as featuring in the two pre-season friendlies against Como and Bristol City.
Journalist Liam Keen has been impressed with what he’s seen from Gomes so far and has now explained one element of the Portuguese ace’s game that could help him in the squad.

When speaking on The Keen and Judah Show, the Express and Star reporter identified the forward’s versatility as being a key strength, and one that could particularly help him if Pedro Neto stays.
“The fact that he [Gomes] can play on the right is going to benefit him, being versatile is going to benefit him.
“Because he’s so similar [to Neto] unless O’Neil was going to take a tactical approach where he felt like he needed those types of wingers on the pitch at the same time, it feels to me like it’s one or the other.”
Given that Neto is Wolves’ firm first-choice right winger, Gomes’ ability to play in several areas of the pitch could be of use to him, should his countryman remain at the club after deadline day.
Gary O’Neil is at an advantage with Neto and Gomes
Of course, the ideal scenario would be to keep Neto at Wolves this summer however, it’s clear that the club have a plan in place to part ways with the winger if an appropriate offer is presented.
Losing a talent as impressive as Neto would be painful however, O’Neil is at an advantage having brought in Gomes, whom Keen identified as being “so similar” to the £60m-rated star.
Early signs of the 21-year-old suggest he is as dynamic on the flank as Neto, who contributed to 11 goals in the 2023/24 Premier League, scoring twice and assisting nine times.
Now, the manager has a prospect who could fill a possible void left by Wolves’ star man if he were to leave this summer, as well as having a forward capable of playing in other areas to support the Portugal international when needed.
