Roberto De Zerbi acknowledges four Wolves players ahead of Brighton clash

Wolves are taking on Brighton tomorrow night in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium, and Roberto De Zerbi was speaking about the club in his press conference ahead of the clash.

Wolves are looking to continue their fine form of late, and are seeking a fourth straight win in the league.

Gary O’Neil has been doing a fantastic job lately, and masterminded a win over Brentford in the FA Cup earlier this week to set up a fourth-round clash with bitter rivals West Bromwich Albion.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Brighton thrashed Wolves 4-1 at Molineux.

But Wolves have come a long way since then and that is not lost on De Zerbi, who praised Wolves ahead of the game. The Italian also picked out four Wolves players…

De Zerbi was asked about Wolves in his pre-match press conference.

Brighton have fared quite well against Wolves in recent times, having won all of the previous four meetings and scoring at least three goals in each of those meetings.

But Wolves come into this game in great form and there is real optimism within the fanbase that Wanderers can give the Seagulls a good game.

De Zerbi is wary though, and mentioned a few Wolves players who have been impressing him lately and believes are top players. He said (via Brighton official): “Another very tough game. They are a bold team, a brisk team. They have important players with big quality. Cunha, Lemina, Sarabia and Kilman the centre-back. We know the level of difficulty of the game. We would like to win the game, we want to win. We want to play well.

“I think if we play we’ll have more of a chance to win, but we know the level of Wolverhampton.”

Man in form Cunha will be key vs Brighton

It is nice to hear De Zerbi mentioning a few Wolves players ahead of the game, with the four he picked out all in superb form right now.

But it’s Cunha who is probably Wolves’ MVP right now, with the £60,000-a-week Brazilian having made 10 goal contributions in his last 11 appearances.

Cunha is finally starting to prove himself as the £44 million player Wolves signed one year ago.

Previously, he’s struggled at times a little. But O’Neil has worked with the player closely and is getting a serious tune out of him now, and his goal contribution numbers (seven goals, six assists) are impressive.

He is going to be extremely important tomorrow night at the Amex, with Brighton obviously a great side under De Zerbi. Hopefully, he won’t be feeling too jaded, after he admitted he felt a bit fatigued against Brentford.
